I was going to conclude the previous longer April post by including these screencaps from THE OA but for some reason i didn’t. Still quite random(ish) but here there are. The last thing on/about this tv show.

2023 feb/march – scripted moving pictures
Two things i happened to watch.
A random encounter/pick: a Korean drama/series titled Glitch, 2022, something labelled as “Scifi/mystery” with comedy elements. I had no idea what i was getting into (somehow I was a bit afraid it could be a Korean Stranger Things-like before starting the first ep, no idea where i picked this idea/thought). A few episodes in i thought about/of “Mysterious Skin” (movie/adaptation) but only for a short moment. It’s not a comparison. They have Aliens and UFOs in common but.. never mind. I didn’t feel this show toyed with my expectations as a viewer. I didn’t feel like i was witnessing too many used/tired tropes, inverted or barely/last moment averted ones.
I enjoyed the humour/comedy elements and ‘silly’ bits, they were welcome. It was light enough in tone and i appreciated that. Yeah, this isn’t a review.
2nd thing. I’ve been watching Black Books, British TV series from 2000-2004. It’s only 3 seasons, each season composed of 6 episodes, each episode being only ~25min.
I’m a bit late to this one. But it’s great. Outrageously fun to watch.
So this is your wilderness.

Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Mémoire de la disparition
Parce que fin août/début septembre 2020 je lisais “Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Mémoire de la disparition”, un livre écrit par Diane Arnaud (publié aux éditions Rouge Profond, collection Raccords, en 2007).
J’avais ce livre sur le cinéma de Kiyoshi Kurosawa depuis de nombreuses années, il m’a fallu très longtemps pour enfin le lire. Ça n’aurait pu être une lecture plus agréable sur le sujet.
Il s’agissait de quelques pages que j’avais voulu partager à l’époque. 2020, donc. Il me fallait finalement mettre ça ici, au moins ça.

En fin d’année dernière (2021) j’ai découvert la vidéo de cette conférence/ce cours de cinéma par l’autrice du livre, Diane Arnaud, sur Charisma. [Je n’ai vu CHARISMA et CURE qu’en cette année 2020. Après tant d’années et d’attente CURE aurait pu me décevoir, miraculeusement il n’en fût rien. Quant à CHARISMA, ce fût pour moi une surprise assez extraordinaire.]

Microhabitat (2017)
Microhabitat, aka “S-gong-nyeo” / “소공녀”, 2017, a South-Korean film directed by Jeon Go-woon.
It’s a film. And it’s a film i liked. That’s it.

Watching it, it took some time -how to say?- adjusting to it. Adjusting to… its tone? And perhaps something else.
I found myself still thinking about it the next day when i woke up.
As the film progressed, as the story unrolled, spending that time watching it, going along with it… //
The longer i spent watching it the more i liked it.
[i can’t write in English right now, it’s a struggle. It’s 6am, i should have been sleeping/should be asleep.]

It’s been two weeks i saw it, here’s a link to the film page on Mubi, it has a trailer and stuff. I haven’t read any review or anything about it.
I liked it more than I thought i would after seeing its trailer. It was a nice surprise.
